5D / QUANTITY & PROCUREMENT DATA / SINGAPORE
BIM Quantity Take-off & Progress Measurement Support
Prepare traceable model-based quantities for agreed estimating, procurement or progress-measurement tasks. Distinguish what the model measures from how a commercial package is priced, ordered or certified.
DELIVERY BASIS
Defined information inputsDocumented review criteriaTraceable outputsView deliverables ↓SCOPE / DELIVERY
Create an extraction that the receiving quantity, commercial or procurement team can review. The basis of measurement, included objects, units and product specifications matter as much as the exported totals.
KEY OUTPUTS
- Quantity schedule
- BOQ / procurement mapping
- Reconciliation record
- Progress measurement support
Project context
Create an extraction that the receiving quantity, commercial or procurement team can review. The basis of measurement, included objects, units and product specifications matter as much as the exported totals.
Inputs & requirements
- Source model revision, package boundaries, required areas and systems.
- Measurement rules, inclusion and exclusion criteria, units and BOQ or procurement templates.
- Specification mappings, approved conversion rules and relevant previous quantity or ordering records.
Share a non-confidential requirements summary first. Restricted project information should only be exchanged through an agreed secure route.
Technical method
- Audit object coverage, parameters and schedule filters against the agreed extraction purpose.
- Extract quantities with an identified model revision and measurement basis.
- Map quantities to BOQ items or procurement BOM descriptions and purchasing units where appointed.
- Reconcile revisions and explain changes in geometry, scope, data or extraction rules separately.
Deliverables
| Output | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Quantity schedule | Measured quantities, units, source revision and scope. |
| BOQ / procurement mapping | Agreed item or product descriptions linked to model-derived information. |
| Reconciliation record | Changes, exclusions and approved ordering adjustments distinguished from measured values. |
| Progress measurement support | Evidence prepared against the agreed measurement basis for the responsible team’s review. |
Review criteria
- Duplicate, omitted and non-modelled scope is identified.
- Units, specification fields and conversion assumptions match the intended commercial use.
- Quantity changes can be traced to the correct revision and reviewed before release.
Responsibilities
Cost, procurement and claim-related work is support to the appointed commercial team. SBT does not imply payment certification or authority to purchase. A procurement BOM belongs to this 5D scope; it is not a COBie asset-information handover.
Common questions
Can model quantities be ordered directly?
Only after the responsible team confirms specifications, purchasing units, package completeness and ordering adjustments. An export alone is not a purchase instruction.
Is COBie another type of procurement BOM?
No. COBie supports asset-information exchange at handover. A procurement BOM addresses what is to be purchased; the two have different purposes and review criteria.
