Project context
Prepare drawings that communicate the information required for the intended site or fabrication review. Drawing purpose, status and approval route must remain clear throughout each issue.
Inputs & requirements
- Current design drawings, coordinated discipline models, specifications and previous review comments.
- Drawing register, templates, scales, annotation conventions and required details.
- Project definitions of CSD, CBP and SEM, package boundaries and the named reviewers or approving parties.
Share a non-confidential requirements summary first. Restricted project information should only be exchanged through an agreed secure route.
Technical method
- Confirm drawing purpose, source revisions and outstanding coordination dependencies.
- Prepare the required plans, sections, details, dimensions and annotations from controlled sources.
- Compare model geometry with drawing views, schedules and referenced details.
- Resolve review comments within the agreed scope and issue a documented revision package.

Review criteria
- Levels, dimensions, annotations and cross-references agree with the intended model revision.
- Openings, service zones and interfaces reflect the recorded coordination decisions.
- Sheet numbering, revision marking and package completeness match the issue register.
Responsibilities
SBT prepares and coordinates documentation. Client, consultant and other authorised parties retain their defined design review and approval responsibilities. CBP and SEM meanings follow the project’s documentation standard; they are not assumed to be interchangeable drawing types.
Common questions
Can drawings be prepared before coordination is complete?
A staged issue may be possible, but unresolved zones and issue purpose must be explicit. A drawing should not imply acceptance of an unchecked interface.
Are shop drawings and design approvals the same service?
No. Drawing preparation and technical or statutory approval are distinct activities with different responsibilities.
